Car companies are doing it, retailers are doing it and even suit companies are doing it. During the economic downturn, many retailers are feeling the pinch of those people who are afraid of losing their jobs. I remember when I saw the first Hyundai commercial advertising this.
Hyundai has a program where, if you lose your job, Hyundai will take the car back without any damage to your credit. What really grabbed my ear was when they said, “we are all in this together.” I thought that line was a piece of marketing genius. I really liked that line because it wasn’t the big, bad company taking our money. It was a company who was admitting that they are going through the same difficulties that the average consumer is and because of that, they will help us if we will help them. A truly brilliant piece of advertising.
Don’t just take my word for it. Hyundai is the only auto company who has seen a marked increase in sales since starting this campaign. Other companies noticed that and have put together promotions that are similar to Hyundai’s.
This is good news for you. If you are like me and have a car that is getting up in its years and putting more money in to the repair of it doesn’t seem like the best idea, you are in the driver’s seat when purchasing right now. If you have the means and feel relatively good about keeping your job, by all means, head to the dealership. It’s a great time to buy.
And thanks to Hyundai, even if you are not so sure about your job, you can still go to Hyundai and know that even if you are a victim of the downturn, your credit will be safe. If you go this direction, I would suggest parking that old clunker in the garage just in case you need it again.
